Discipline and Lineage
Discipline has played a crucial role in the development of modern yoga, much like it did for Tirumalai Krishnamacharya, who is often called the father of modern yoga.
His rigorous discipline shaped the paths of his most famous students, each of whom brought a unique flavor to the teaching:
- Indra Devi, brought yoga to the west with deep respect for her teacher. She preserved the classical practice- cleansing, asanas, pranayama, meditation and diet- without changing the essence. At the same time she made yoga accessible to westerners, especially women, opening a path while fully honouring tradition.
- B.K.S. Iyengar, because of his fragile health he developed a method focused on precise alignment and therapeutic use of yoga postures. His teachings emphasize structure and the importance of being aligned to build strength and improve wellbeing.
- K. Pattabhi Jois systematized and popularized Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga, a physically demanding, flowing style built on strength, stamina, and strict sequences originally designed for disciplined practice.
- T.K.V. Desikachar, Krishnamacharya’s son, developed personalized and therapeutic approaches to yoga, emphasizing adapting the practice to the individual’s needs and capacity. He made yoga accessible and healing, balancing tradition with compassion and flexibility.
I honour this lineage and the importance of discipline in practice; not as a harsh imposition, but as a loving framework that helps guide the student steadily toward transformation and freedom. My guidelines balances firmness with tenderness, encouraging sincere commitment while nurturing self-compassion.
My approach is rooted in love and discipline, inspired by the lineage of Krishnamacharya and his students. I hold the space with clarity and care, integrating both structure and intuitive presence to support each student’s unique path.
What to Expect in a Session
“Every session is sacred.”
Each session is a sacred journey uniquely crafted for your soul’s unfolding. We begin with the resonant sound of Om, inviting stillness and presence to settle within.
From this quiet place, we move gently through the breath prāṇāyāma and enter postures held long and tenderly, allowing the body to melt into the embrace of time and gravity.
We drift into the realm of Yoga Nidra, the yogic sleep, where the veil of illusion Māyā softly dissolves, and the soul awakens to its radiant truth.
Guided meditations invite you deeper, to meet Īśvara the divine light within where surrender becomes freedom and silence blooms into the eternal dance of union with the divine.
This practice is not about movement or strength, but about the gentle unraveling of layers to reveal the luminous self beneath.
